Injured man waits for news of missing son

Yogesh Pandey (48) lies seriously injured at the Bhagwati Hospital in Borivali.

A victim of the Tuesday’s blasts, Yogesh is being treated for a leg fracture and burns.

But the fact that his son is still missing brings him more pain than his injuries. The doctors have advised bed-rest for at least a fortnight, but Yogesh just wants to get out of the hospital and look for his son.

As the doctor arrives, he anxiously enquires if any more bodies have come in. “Have you come to know anything about Kini?” he asks and his wife, Vaijayanti, bursts into tears.

Their only son Kini (24), who was an intern at Jagjivan Ram Hospital, was returning from his Mumbai Central office in a Virar fast, around 5pm.

“I have checked almost all the hospitals, but in vain,” said Vaijayanti, amidst sobs.

Yogesh cannot believe that a mere train ride could shatter his life this way.

Recounting the nightmare, Yogesh says, “I was travelling from Churchgate to Vasai by train and I heard a deafening noise at Borivali. I was standing near the footboard and suddenly, I was hit by a rod in the compartment. Thereafter, I lost consciousness”.

Yogesh was in pain when he regained consciousness, but forgot all about it on knowing his son was still missing.
