Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta talks about his leap from making one film a year to producing five.

For someone who has been making one film a year, what prompted you to produce five films in the same period of time?
Earlier, I used to make one film and then go on a holiday. But I finally realised I was being lazy. So I decided to get other like-minded people together under one roof and do some kickass work.

So is your production company going to be the next Yash Raj or UTV?
No. These guys are too big, but I’m not really trying to compete with them. We’d rather be a Miramax than a 20th Century Fox.

What role does Sanjay Dutt play in White Feather Films?
Sanju is the chairman of the company. He is a part of any growth taking place in the company. I couldn’t have done it alone.

‘Zinda’ was reflective of the dark moments in your life. In your next directorial ‘Alibaug’, do you draw from your personal experience once again?
‘Alibaug’ is a tribute to friendship. I’ve always been inspired by a close group of friends. It was these very friends who had kept me company when I met with a terrible accident a few years ago.
