PARIS: An angry Ivan Ljubicic slammed Rafael Nadal's ploy of stalling between points when serving in their French Open semifinal on Friday.

“It's ridiculous how much time he takes between points,” the Croatian fourth seed told reporters after his 6-4 6-2 7-6 defeat by the defending champion.

“I think the umpire should be more aggressive on that. Because they gave him one time violation but it didn't seem to change anything.”

Ljubicic, however, did not question Nadal's superiority on court. It took the Croatian two sets to raise his level but in the end he was outclassed 9-7 in the third set tiebreak.

“It takes time to realise how to play and to adjust because it's the first left-hander (I've faced) in a while,” he said.

“I had to adjust my serve as well. I think in the third set I served much better, much smarter. It does take a little time.”

Ljubicic made no secret of who he would like to win the final on Sunday, when Nadal will face world number one Roger Federer.

“I would love to see Roger win it. I think everybody will because it would be nice,” the Croatian said referring to Federer's bid to become only the third man to hold all four Grand Slam titles at once.

“He is the best player probably ever in tennis and it would be nice to see him lifting the trophy here.”
