That is, till the FIFA World Cup 2006 lasts. Several cellphone firms and portals are offering a wide range of soccer-related ring tones-so many of them that one could change the ringtone everyday and maybe switch from one match to another.
However, in most cases, a subscriber would need a relatively high-end phone with GPRS or WAP-enabled features. With a ringtone download priced at Rs 15 on an average, mobile companies are eyeing a neat sum from the soccer fever.
Take for instance the offers from service providers like Bharti Airtel and Tata Indicom. Their subscribers can download FIFA World Cup's official song by the hot-selling group `II Divo'—`Time of Our Lives'. Remember the rush for the official song of the World Cup 2002—`Boom' by Anastacia; and `La Copa de la Vida' by Ricky Martin in 1998?
