Actor Koel Purie will now be seen as a TV correspondent out on a sting operation to catch unsuspecting wrong-doers. She will be doing all this and more in a film titled Breaking News.

The film, directed by debutant Vishal Inamdar, will take a look at the darker side of the famous (or infamous) sting operations where a news correspondent falls in the chakravyuh of the whole business and finally paves her way out to yet another chakravyuh!

Says Koel about her role, “It’s not so much my role, but the script that is exciting. For me it is different because for a change I am playing a simple girl caught in a complicated situation. Earlier I had essayed roles where there was already some problem with the character that I played.”

So, did Koel take tips from mediaman dad Aroon Purie, “No, I didn’t need to because I have been a journalist myself for three years. Besides, the subject here is a little critical of the field.”

The film makes a comment on the state of satellite television in the country and how news channels go to any lengths to do a story that will boost their TRPs. The film also talks about how in age of soaps, television news is suddenly become extremely watchable because of the dramatic fashion in which things are presented.

The USP of the film is in exposing reality with certain humorous incidents that occurs within the news channels.

From the agitated talk shows to shoving the mike in the mouth of a kissing couple in a park and asking ‘what is your take on right to privacy’, the film promises to be an all out entertainer.

Besides Koel Purie, the film stars Abhimanyu Singh , Swati Sen, Atul Parchure Harsh Chaya and Vinay Apte.
