NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the anticipatory bail petition of Sunil Mehra, Editor of magazine 'Maxim', against whom a case has been lodged for publishing indecent morphed photographs of south Indian film actress Khushboo.

"This (publication of the indecent photograph) is a blatant attempt to increase the circulation of your magazine," a vacation Bench comprising Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice R V Raveendran said while refusing to interfere with the controversial issue.

The Madras High Court on April 17 had also declined to grant anticipatory bail to the Editor.

The Tamil Nadu police has registered a case under section 292A (printing, etc, of grossly or scurrilous matter or matter intended to blackmail) and under the provisions of Indecent Representation of Woman, Act against Mehra for publishing the alleged photographs.
