It's a new trend in India, but signature lines have come of age in the West.

Fans across the world don't mind paying a pretty penny to 'wear' their favourite celebrity. And, that explains why John Abraham has launched a signature line of jeans last week and a shirt line with inputs from Hrithik Roshan is expected soon.

The duo have joined the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Tiger Woods and Eminem who have dipped their toes in the fashion fortune.

Actors and Models
Godmother of celebrity fashion lines and former 'Charlie's Angel' Jacklyn Smith launched her label way back in 1985.

Then, came along, hot bod Elle Macpherson whose 'Intimate' line has been selling across the world for more than 12 years. Jennifer Lopez's fashion company 'Sweetface' manufactures clothes (in all possible sizes), accessories and numerous perfumes.

Most celebrity fashion lines are an offshoot of their personal style, so Jessica Simpson's footwear range has her favourite designs for cowboy boots and heels while avid yoga practitioner Christy Turlington helped design 'Nuala', Puma's line of yogawear.

Hip-hop
Lots of bling-bling, ultra-loose clothes for men and skin-tight outfits for women is what hip-hop icon's labels are known for. Rapper Pharrell Williams has designed an eyewear collection for Louis Vuitton.

Fans can wear Eminem's trademark hoddies and jeans, while his prodigy 50 cents has launched 'G-Unit Clothing Company'. Apart from the basic clothes, 'Snoop Dogg' also has given the world pet products and even a customised Cadillac — 'The Snoop DeVille'.

Hip-hop's latest IT boy Kanye West is planning on launching a preppy line called 'Pastel' this year.

Musicians
Bono loves Africa and that's no secret. That should explain why his clothing line 'Edun' is manufactured in locally managed factories there. Black Eyed Peas member Will.i.am collection of offbeat suits is called, what else but 'I.am'. His clients include fellow musicians like Ashlee Simpson and Kelly Osbourne.

'No Doubt' singer Gwen Stefani's label 'L.A.M.B' is sported by hotties like Halle Berry, Alicia Keys and Carmen Electra. Beyonce's new line 'The House of Dereon' goes with the tagline — 'Couture. Kick. Soul.' and is designed by her mother Tina Knowles.

Diva Mariah Carey, too is planning on cashing in on her name with an underwear line called 'Mariah Kiss Kiss'. What next?
