CHENNAI/ Mumbai: A local court in Madurai on Friday issued non-bailable warrants against actresses Shilpa Shetty and Reema Sen for 'posing in an obscene manner' in photographs published in a Tamil eveninger, Tamil Murasu.

Dismissing the actors’ plea for exemption from personal appearance, judicial magistrate- II K Seetharaman issued the warrants returnable by June 2. The court also issued a warrant against actor Khushboo in the case relating to her comments on pre-marital sex.

A clarification from Shilpa Shetty said she had not posed for the picture in question and it was shot for a Kannada film that she had acted in. She maintains that it is not a picture that can be termed as obscene.

She said she has not received any court notice yet.  Reema Sen said, “I have not received any court notice. They are just maligning my name.”
