An interesting twist in the tale of a schoolboy Vikrant, who was allegedly beaten up by a female teacher on Monday, has led to a mystery of sorts.

Vikrant’s father Vilas Sukate, who was hell bent on lodging a complaint against the teacher on Monday till late evening, has suddenly withdrawn his complaint. He went to the school on Tuesday and submitted a letter saying he had no complaints against the teacher. The teacher Pushpa Nevre too told dna that she did not even touch Vikrant, and just scolded him for his comment.

But then who beat up Vikrant afterall?

The family of the student of Hutatma Bhagat Singh High School in Dapodi claimed that their son was beaten black and blue by Nevre for passing a lewd comment at her.

“In the afternoon, a student who was sitting next to Vikrant told me that he (Vikrant) was talking bad about me and even passing lewd comments. I reprimanded him and told him that I would report his mischief to his parents,” Nevre said. She added that she did not even touch him.

She said that at 5 pm, Vikrant’s father came and picked him up from the school and went home. “Had I beaten him up in the afternoon, why would he not have told his father when he came?,” she asked.

Asha Ubale, the administrator for PCMC schools said that she visited the school in the morning when she was in the school taking the details of the case, the father of Vikrant came and withdrew the case.”Since the case has been withdrawn and the father himself gave us in the writing, we will not pursue the case further,” she said.

Sukate, when contacted over the phone, said that he did not want to ruin someone’s life by pursuing the matter. “I do not want to say anything on this issue. The subject is closed now,” he said. He, however, avoided the question on who actually beat the child up and disconnected the phone.

Police inspector Chandrakant Bhosale of Bhosari police station said that the family did not come to the police station to lodge a complaint. “We will visit the school and the details what exactly happened on Monday,” he said.
