VASVIK research award for NCL scientist

Chief scientist at Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Darbha Srinivas, will be feted with the Vividhlaxi Audyogik Samshodhan Vikas Kendra (VASVIK) Research Award 2011 for his significant contribution to the area of catalysts and catalysis in bio-fuels production.

He will receive the award jointly with Prof AK Shukla of Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore at a function to be held in Mumbai by the end of this year.

Srinivas has developed highly efficient and reusable solid catalysts for the production of bio-diesel and bio-lubricants in a continuous process.

Sud-Chemie India Ltd. is manufacturing the CSIR-NCL’s solid catalyst and supplying it to commercial plants as well.
Srinivas has been an editor to various national and international journals.
