After receiving various complaints of harassment against the traffic police officials, the deputy commissioner of police has organised a ten-day workshop for its staff to teach them how to behave with citizens.

The workshop began on Thursday where noted cartoonist Mangesh Tendulkar shared his experience with the traffic police officials and advised them to be polite with  the traffic violators.

Narrating his own experience to the traffic police officials, Tendulkar said, “ Last year during Diwali, while I was distributing postcards to spread message of safe driving, I came across a man who tore the handout. I started picking up the torn pieces of the postcard.

Seeing this people came and told that they will help me in distributing the handout and the person who tore the handout was sorry for his action.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vishwas Pandhare said, “We have received several complaints about the behaviour of the cops when they deal with the traffic violators.” He further added, “If the traffic cops stops a two wheeler then instead of taking out the bike key, they should ask the traffic violater to stop by the side of the road which will give time to both of them to cool down,”

Pandhare also said, “Our policemen will learn a lot of positive things from this workshop. The traffic cop work under a lot of pressure at major signals, where traffic is enormous. However, he can not tackle tough situation by behaving rudely.”
