The presence of mind shown by the driver of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) averted a major tragedy after the bus he was driving was hit by a dumper truck in Katraj on Saturday. The bus driver slowed down the vehicle and managed to bring it to halt at the side of the road.
The incident took place on Saturday at 10.45 am near Gujarwadi Phata in Katraj and 35 passengers were on the bus at the time of the mishap. However, only one passenger sustained a minor injury.
The Bharati Vidyapeeth police said,”The driver of the dumper truck was trying to overtake a vehicle and in the process he went on to hit the state transport bus coming form the opposite direction.”
The officer added, “The driver of the state transport bus showed presence of mind and took the bus to the left side of the road, due to which the impact of the accident was less. He slowed down and so was able to take control of the situation. More than 35 passengers were on the bus and yet only one person sustained minor injuries.”
