The Pune regiaonal transport office (RTO) is going hi-tech to ensure that those clearing driving tests are up to the mark. Soon, Pune will get an automated modern track where the smallest errors of those giving driving tests would be picked up.

Moreover, people will be able to view their mistakes during the test drive, as all of it will be recorded on closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras. The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) has procured 25 acres of land at Dighi village.

The Pune RTO will be constructing two tracks for two-wheelers and one track for four-wheelers.The trials given by the candidates will be recorded on camera and shown to them. They will be handed over the compact disc which has been shot as proof of the trail test and the Pune RTO will also keep a copy of the same.

Pune regional transport officer, Ajit Shinde said, “The automated testing track will be made as soon we get the funds from the state government. We have done the survey of the area and soon we will be preparing the map of the trial track. There will be two separate tracks for two-wheelers. As per the balance strip, we will have acute right and left turn and U turn.”

Shinde added that since there would be no human involvement the results will be accurate and we will have good quality licence holders which means the number of accidents on the road would also reduce.

“We are planning to make the automated testing track on international parameters. We are positive that the work will be completed within three to four months after we get the funds for the automated testing track,” he said.
