The anti-corruption bureau (ACB) of Pune division arrested a police constable Baban Maruti Jadhav (47) from Rajgad for alleged involvement in accepting a bribe of Rs20,000 from a resident of Ambegaon.

The ACB sleuths had laid a trap for Jadhav on Tuesday at Rajgad police station on a complaint by Sanjay Shamrao Konde (48). While Jadhav has been arrested, the ACB has filed a case against another constable Sanjay Koli.

According to the ACB, Konde has lodged a complaint on Monday against Jadhav and Koli. Few weeks ago, an atrocity case had been registered against Konde at Rajgad police station. Jadhav and Koli had demanded Rs50,000 to weaken the case. However, Konde had managed to bargain with and settle the bribe amount at Rs40,000.

ACB officials said, “As per the deal, Konde had given Rs10,000 each to the two policemen and was supposed to give them the remaining amount on Tuesday.”

An ACB team led by deputy superintendent of police Rajendra Galande laid a trap at Rajgad police station and arrested Jadhav while accepting the  bribe.
Speaking to DNA, Galande said, “We have arrested Jadhav while a case has been registered against Koli, as he was not present at the police station.”
