Pune traffic cops to send safety tips using SMS

Pune city traffic police have tied up with BSNL to reach out to mobile customers by sending traffic rules and safety tips using the short message service (SMS) system. The department initially plans to cover 6.35 lakh customers and aims to touch 44 lakh mobile subscribers.

Deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Vishwas Pandhare said, “We will be using the facility for the first time to spread mass awareness regarding traffic rules and safe driving. The number of accidents will come down drastically if people start following traffic rules. Hence, we have started this initiative to reach out to maximum number of people.”
