Investigations by Vishrantwadi police station in the murder of a woman constable has revealed that her police constable husband murdered her in a “cold blooded” manner. He had been pretending to be a mental patient for the past couple of days, police said.

Police sources claimed that arrested constable Shreyas Vinod Salvi (30) wanted to take advantage of his mental conditions to get away from severe punishment. However, the police have conducted a test on him and the doctor’s report has confirmed that Salvi has no psychological disorder.

Speaking to dna, senior police inspector Sudhakar Kate said, “After Salvi was arrested, he was giving us evasive answers. Moreover, he was acting in weird manner. Hence, we conducted a test on him, in which the doctor has confirmed that his mental condition is normal.”

Police sources further revealed that the deceased constable Rupali Salvi Kamble came to know about Shreya’s first marriage, when she came across photographs of his previous wife and child. The couple often fought over the issue.

Shreyas hatched a plan as he understood that Rupali will not bear with the truth. “Some eight days before the murder, he sent few weird SMS’s to his friends. He started screaming during the night. He tried to prove that he was mentally unstable,”an officer said.

He added, “He was under the impression that court will let him off on medical ground. But, after the report came out the court also remarked him as a normal person.”
