New software to trace calls, vehicle owners in Pune

Now approaching police to get information about calls from unknown numbers or of vehicle number plates in hit and run cases will get easier. People will no more have to wait for a week as the details will now be available in a few clicks.

The National Informatics Center (NIC) has prepared a software which will show the data of a person such as his name, address, and to whom a mobile card belongs to in case of a call from an unknown number. It will also show within seconds to whom a vehicle with certain registration number belongs to. The new software was launched on Sunday to make things easier for policemen as well as people. 

Vikas Kumbhar, assistant police inspector, attached to Technical Analysis Wing of Pune rural police said, “We launched an SMS-based system for getting details of mobile phone numbers and vehicle owners. The system will give the owner’s details within 40 seconds of feeding these numbers into the software. It will be specially very helpful during Nakabandi.”
