Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) doctors cell chief Dilip Ghule died in a road accident on Tuesday morning. The incident took place at 6.30 am after an autorickshaw in which he was travelling turned turtle near Bhapkar Petrol Pump on Pune-Satara Road.
Ghule had left his residence at Raj Yog Apartments in Bibwewadi and was on his way to Pune railway station. He was to board the Deccan Queen Express train for Mumbai.
According to Dattawadi police, when the autorickshaw was near Bhapkar Petrol Pump on Pune-Satara Road, suddenly a two-wheeler came in front the rickshaw from the opposite side prompting the auto driver to apply sudden brakes. With that he lost control over the rickshaw and it turned turtle.
“Ghule and the rickshaw driver Dondi Shinde fell on their heads. While Shinde escaped with minor injuries, Ghule got serious injuries on his head and chest. He was rushed to the nearby hospital where he lost his life while undergoing treatment at around 1pm.”
