Man elopes with woman, her relatives bound, gag and gang-rape his wife

A mother of two children, including a seven-month-old baby, was allegedly gang-raped at Rahatani near Sangvi in Pimpri-Chinchwad in the wee hours of Saturday. According to the victim, her husband had eloped with another woman and the relatives of that woman came to her house and physically abused her to take revenge.

Two persons were detained after a case of gang-rape, assault and robbery was registered with Sangvi police station. According to the police statement given by the 25-year-old victim, three men and two women barged into her house and the men raped her. The victim is undergoing treatment at Sassoon General Hospital.

The victim’s eight-year-old daughter saw her mother on the bed with hands tied and mouth gagged when she woke up early on Saturday morning to answer nature’s call. The girl immediately informed her nearby relatives.

The victim approached Sangvi police and she was rushed to Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital and later to Sassoon General Hospital for medical examination. Assistant commissioner of police (zone III) Smita Patil recorded the victim’s statement personally.

In the statement given to the police, the woman said, “My husband is having an extramarital affair with a woman for the past two months and he has eloped with her. Relatives of that woman came to my house in search of my husband. I was sleeping along with my two children when I heard a knock on the door.”

“I thought it was my sister who stays nearby and I opened the door. Three men with their faces covered, wearing jackets and hand gloves barged into my house. They gagged me and tied me to the bed. They started beating me and snatched my gold ornaments. Later, two youths raped me saying that they wanted to take revenge for her husband’s deed,” she said.

Sangvi police station inspector incharge Saifan Mujavar said, “After the victim’s statement was recorded, we detained two persons identified as Ashok Siddharam Nulla and his brother Amol. A case of gang-rape, assault and robbery has been filed against them.”
