Pune: Anti corruption Bureau (Pune unit) has arrested Pune district Malaria Officer and her assistant for allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 from a suspended medical officer for allowing him to resume work.

The arrested persons have been identified as Dr. Sujata Pardeshi, who is district Malaria officer and her assistant Bhau Jadhav.
Deputy commissioner of police (ACB), Sarang Avhad said, “Complainant was suspended by arrested person Pardeshi for remaining absent from work. To allow him to rejoin duty, Pardeshi and Jadhav demanded Rs 20,000 and also to provide him medical fitness certificate. Complainant approached us on Tuesday and on Wednesday around 8am, we laid a trap at District Malaria office and caught them red handed accepting the bribe amount.”
He added, “While searching Dr Pardeshi house, we found Rs1.20 lakh cash kept in her house and has Rs 5 lakh in her bank account. Apart from this she owns property worth of Rs50 lakh. There are chances that additional disappropriation of assets cases will be registered against her.”
