Pune: Hurt by his abrupt transfer from the post of Pune police commissioner a week ago, Gulabrao Pol has decided to put in his papers.
Pol was asked to take charge of the top position in the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Ltd (MSEDCL) after he was summarily removed just before the Election Commission announced the poll code of conduct.
“I have applied for voluntary retirement,” Pol told dna.
There had been speculations that chief minister Prithviraj Chavan insisted on Pol’s transfer as he did not want Pol, who is seen as a Sharad Pawar man, in Pune during the polls.
Though Ajit Pawar was said to be unhappy about the move, the timing of the decision was such that he couldn’t do anything.
Pol’s decision to quit comes in the wake of Satyapal Singh’s resignation, who quit as Mumbai CP and joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Meerut constituency in
When asked if he was contemplating political future, too, Pol said he is yet to decide that.
“I will be going to my native place and will talk to my friends and family before I take any decision,” said Pol.
