The Airport police booked a beer shoppe owner and a co-operative bank manager for allegedly abetting suicide of a 34-year-old bank gold valuator.

Sanjay Sambhaji Kajale committed suicide by hanging himself to the ceiling fan of his house on December 3 at Lohegaon. The police have recovered a suicide note from his possession in which he has mentioned that beer shoppe owner Anil Gopal Mankar is responsible for his death. Following which, the Airport police investigated the case and suspect Mankar to have mortgaged fake gold in the bank and took Rs4.5 lakh but did not pay installments for the past couple of months.

Speaking to dna, investigating officer and police sub inspector MN Shahane of Airport police station, said, “Thereafter, the bank checked the gold but found it to be fake. Following which, they

blamed Kajale.”

Police suspect that after coming to know about the suicide, the bank manager might changed the gold.  “At this juncture, we do not have evidence which can prove that the gold was fake,” said Shahane added. The other two booked persons have been identified as the bank manager (his name withheld) and Mankar’s friend Santosh Chowdhary under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code.
