Getting the driver's licence just got a little easier as RTO follows the Passport offices suit.

Next time when you visit the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO), for your learners driving license don’t be surprised if you are given a token number and asked to wait till the time your token number appears on the electronic display board.

After seeing the process of issuing of passport getting streamlined with passport office outsourcing the work to private consultancy, the RTO is also planning to follow passport office's footstep and it will be outsourcing the work of preparing licenses and according to the RTO officials, it will speed up the licensing process.

Deputy regional transport officer Anil Valiv said,”On an average more than 500 learners driving license is issued on any given day, which gives more scopes for the touts to work in between, Therefore we are planning to streamline the entire process of making the learners driving license.”

Valiv added,”The applicant will enter all the details in the register and the serial number of the register will be the token number, after the documents are been checked by the RTO inspector it will be given to the third party to scan and enter the details this will help to streamline the process and there will be more transparency in the process.”

Valiv further said,”We will be putting up additional chairs for the applicants so they need not stand outside, moreover we will be displaying videos regarding street safety and precautions to take while driving on the street. We are also planning to re-structure the process of giving test for driving license as we are thinking to redesign and make ultramodern driving test track soon. ”

Apart from this the Pune RTO is also planning to make certain changes in their way of working as they will be using the help of the modern technology which will help them to work efficiently. A four member team will be going to Hyderabad and implement their best practise.

In the end Valiv said,” We have to get use to the maximum utilisation of the technology which will help to work faster and do the work in more efficiently. That is why we are sending a team from Pune RTO to learn about the best usage of technology.”
