Pune: When five-year-old Saiyam Hemant Oswal went out to play with his friends in the society compound on Thursday, his parents did not know that a shocking news awaited them. Saiyam, a Rosary School student, died a tragic death after he got stuck in the society lift of Shrikrishna Society on Shankarsheth Road.
Senior inspector Deepak Nikam, incharge of Swargate police station, said, “Saiyam had returned from school and was about to join his friends. He stepped into the lift which has a sliding grill door installed inside and a wooden door outside. As he tried to step out of the lift, the inside door closed and someone from the upper floor called for the lift.”
As the lift started, Saiyam got stuck between the door and the upper slab.
Realising that Saiyam has got stuck in the lift, some local residents rushed to his rescue. The watchman managed to take him out and rushed him to a private hospital where he was declared dead.
