Friday, 1 August 2014 - 10:35am IST | Place: Pune | Agency: dna

Manchar Police station is proud to have 53-year old constable Maruti Sarode with it since Sarode has not only pulled out a small 3-month old child with his mother from the debris alive but also has pulled out 6-7 dead-bodies from the debris.

Sarode who rushed to the spot with initial team is working tirelessly at the spot and is chipping in whatever way he can. He has been involved in pulling out the Rudra Machhindra Lembhe (3 months) and Pramila Machhindra Lembhe (age 30) from the debris. It was after the rescue team heard the voice of the mother under the debris that they rushed and digging the debris pulled out the mother-son duo.

Interestingly, the medical team, rescue team and the NGOs as well as voluntarily working youth from the adjoining villages are claiming that they were instrumental in bringing out Lembhe mother-son from the debris. Sarode who was involved in the action did not wait for claming any credit and it was after a few local activists that we came to know about his contribution. The local villagers told that Sarode is known for his self-less dutifulness and was involved in taking out 6-7 dead bodies from the debris.
