City to get 10 new CNG pumps by year-end

MNGL will start two pumps at Paud Rd, Warje by May-end.

The city will get 10 new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) pumps in a phased manner by the year-end while the Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) will start its two CNG pumps by May-end. This was informed by district collector Vikas Deshmukh during a meeting of autorickshaw union representatives, MNGL officials and RTO on Tuesday.

Deshmukh said that as per the demand of the auto unions, the MNGL has submitted a time-bound programme for opening CNG pumps in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad.. He said seven CNG pumps would be opened by December-end. The CNG pump at Pisoli would start this week while work for the Wagholi pump is underway. The Bhosari CNG pump will be started by June-end while Chakan pump will come up by May-end.

Similarly, the CNG pump at Nigdi will start by month-end while Pimple Gurav and Wakad pumps will be made functional by September-end.

According to the collector, the MNGL will start its two CNG pumps at Paud Road and Warje by May-end while another will be started at Viman Nagar on Ahmednagar Road in June.

At present, the city has 17 CNG pumps selling 1.248 lakh kg of CNG every day. There are 24,000 autorickshaws using CNG as fuel while 7,500 private cars and over 500 PMPML buses also use CNG.
