Two unidentified persons allegedly abducted a 28-year-old driver and robbed him off his car and cellphone totally worth Rs6 lakh on Sunday at Dighi. A complaint in this regard has been lodged with Vishrantwadi police station by victim Farooq Imrauddin Muzawar, who is a resident of Shirala Taluka in Kolhapur.
According to the police, two unidentified persons had hired a car with Muzawar driving it to Alandi. They spent sometime in Alandi and had dinner at a private hotel.
Speaking to dna, police sub inspector Sachin Kale of Vishrantwadi police station, said, “The passengers had told Muzawar that they want to go to Hadapsar. When they came in the Magazine area, they told Muzawar that they knew a shortcut. They took him to an isolated area in Dighi and robbed him at knifepoint.”
“We have collected the details of the passengers. We are also gathering the details of the vehicle. Our investigation is on right track and will arrest the robbers soon.”
