Cabbie, aide rob techie at knifepoint

A 32-year-old software techie was robbed of Rs46,000 by a cab driver and his accomplice at knifepoint while he was on his way to Mumbai  for an interview.

After robbing him, the duo blindfolded him and tied him to a tree on Dehu Road.

The victim Yawatram Dayaram Chaudhari (32), a resident of Silver Spine Space in Wakad, lodged a complaint at Hinjewadi police station. Sub-inspector Mahesh Sagade of Hinjewadi police station said, “Chaudhari is a software techie and had to travel to Mumbai on Saturday. Around 5.30 am when Chaudhari hired a cab at Wakad. After traveling for an hour, the driver stopped to check the air pressure of the wheel when another person entered the cab and sat next to Chaudhari. The person blindfolded him and threatened him at knifepoint. They first robbed him of Rs11,000 and they asked him to call his wife and deposit money in his account. Later, they also withdrew Rs35,000 from his account with the help of the ATM.”
