An autorickshaw driver was hacked to death in full public view over a property dispute by his step brothers in Kasarwadi on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Bhosari Police, the deceased was identified as Vipul Anil Tijore (30), a resident of Chinchwad. He was on his way to Nigadi when his assailants, armed with sharp weapons, attacked him on his head and hands in Kasarwadi on the busy Pune-Mumbai Highway.

Tijore collapsed and was rushed to the YCM Hospital by some people, but was declared dead on arrival. His attackers, identified as Sumit and brother Yogesh Ghume, later surrendered before the police.

DCP (Zone III) Shahaji Umap said that Vipul had cases related to attempt to murder against him and had attacked Ghume’s brother with the help of his brother-in-law Vishal Pandit over a property dispute and the duo was later released on bail.

Umap said that the step brothers had been nursing hatred and revenge against Vipul ever since the attack. Accordingly, they found the right opportunity, attacked him with sharp weapons and killed him. The duo has been booked under relevant section of murder under the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
