Three well-known achievers shared their success stories and inspired youth at a recent event organised by city-based Success Guru, a coaching and training institute.

Author and IT technologist, Achyut Godbole, doctor and vaccine researcher Himmatrao Bawaskar, Padma Shri Phoolbasan Yadav engaged the audience at Yashwantrao Chavan Natyagruha recemtly.

Godbole, a chemical engineer from IIT, has worked for 32 years with software companies in India, UK and US. He has written books on psychology, economics, literature, music and technology. He said, “The mantra of success is based on two principles: curiosity and compassion. If you have the capacity to ask ‘why’, then you can set yourself towards success.”

Bawaskar shared his work experience in Konkan region and tribal areas. He is the first Indian vaccine researcher in snake and scorpion venom.

“The first step towards success is a disturbed mind. If you are moved by something or upset over something then only can you recognise the problem and find the solution. When I discovered the vaccine I was emotionally disturbed because I saw children dying of scorpion venom every day,” said Bawaskar.

Yadav said having self-confidence is important. “I had seen my parents and my own children starving due to poverty. I decided to change the condition by uniting women in my village,” she said.

She has formed over 1,400 self-help groups in the state involving 2.83 lakh women.
