3 land in ICU after Expressway mishap

Three persons got injured after the sports utility vehicle (SUV) they were travelling in turned turtle at KM 57 on Pune-Mumbai Expressway near Sinhagad Institute on Sunday.

The trio was rushed to a hospital and is currently kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Lokmanya Hospital in Nigdi. All of them have suffered major head injuries.

The injured have been identified as Arpan Sarkar (26), a resident of Pimpri, AK Yadav (30), a resident of Andheri and Kashinath Jana Brijkrishna (28), a resident of Camp.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon when they left for Mumbai in Yadav’s Toyota Innova bearing number MH-06K- 8754.

When they reached near Sinhagad Institute of Technology in Lonavla, Yadav lost control and rammed into the road divider following which the car turned turtle.

Mohan Jadhav, in-charge of Lonavla rural police station, said, “It was raining heavily and Yadav was driving at high speed. There is a steep turning before Lonavla and Yadav lost control over the vehicle and rammed into the divider.”

Jadhav added, “We immediately rushed to the spot. The trio was rushed to Lokmanya Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. They have suffered multiple injuries on their head, hand and leg.”
