As many as 100 people among those who had come to see an agriculture exhibition on HA Grounds in Pimpri on Saturday reportedly lost their mobile phones. However the police have claimed that only 20 people have lodged complaints with them. The Detection Branch (DB) officials of the Pimpri police have arrested a 19-year-old person in this connection. He was allegedly found taking undue advantage of the crowd at the exhibition.

Speaking to dna, police sub inspector S Bhutekar of Pimpri police station said, “We came to know about mobile thefts from the exhibition’s authorities on Saturday afternoon. As of now, 20 people have lodged a complaint with us. There is a possibility that more people would file mobile theft cases.”

The DB sleuths promptly swung into action and nabbed the person from the exhibition. Bhutekar said, “We have nabbed one person on Saturday evening. The arrested person was targetting people at crowded stalls in the exhibition to steal mobile phones. We are yet to recover mobile phones from his possession. Our investigations are on.”
