10 things every Punekar must know before you cast your vote

Here is a quick compilation of the 10 things every Punekar should know about voting before you cast your precious vote.
  1. The voting timing is between 7 am and 6 pm with out any break on April 17, 2014. 
  2. Voters can look for their name in the voter's list by contacting helpline numbers 26333371, 26333372 and 26333373.
  3. Voters can search for their name in the voter's list on the official website www.ceo.maharashtra.gov.in 
  4. Pune district has 65.61 lakh registered voters spread across 21 assembly segments and 3.5 Lok Sabha seats. There are three assembly segments of Maval Lok Sabha which are outside Pune district. The Pune Lok Sabha constituency has 18.35 lakh voters which is highest in the district while Shirur has 18.20 lakh, Baramati has 18.09 lakh voters. The Maval has 10.97 lakh voters in Pune district.
  5. Voters can avail help from the facilitation centers at Pune Municipal Corporation and PCMC ward offices and the voters' facilitation centers in all the assembly segments.
  6. The voters who don't have their photograph in the electoral roll against their name in the voter's list, would be required to present any of the identity proofs prescribed by the Government. 
  7. The Government has declared holiday on Thursday so that all the citizens can exercise their franchise. ​The government has also mentioned in its decision that all the establishments like shops hotels,restaurants,auditoriums industrial units malls retialers should announce a holiday for their daily workers.​
  8. The district administration has deployed 203 teams in the district, including 63 flying squads, 63 video recording teams and remaining static surveillance teams.
  9.  Make sure that you carry one of the 11 documents prescribed by election commission as identity proof.
  10. The voters can contact the below helpline numbers in case they are either threatened or lured by giving money to vote for a particular candidate.
