BJP leader Tarun Vijay is in trouble over his financial deals with Madhya Pradesh activist Shehla Masood, who was allegedly killed outside her Bhopal home a fortnight ago.

Amidst a rising political storm over his alleged proximity to the activist, the Bhopal police may send a team to question Vijay and seek 'clarifications' on the frequent calls he made to Masood.

"Vijay is not a suspect in the case as of now. But we would definitely seek some clarifications from him. A team would be sent to Delhi to question him if required" Vijay Yadav, inspector general (IG) Bhopal range told DNA.

Masood’s company Miracles frequently organised events for the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukharjee Research Foundation headed by Vijay, a Rajya Sabha MP and former editor of the RSS mouthpiece Panchjanya.

In 2010, Vijay’s NGO was granted a sum of Rs25 lakh by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan for promotional activities. Soon after, Vijay got in touch with Masood to conduct events on Dr Mukharjee across the country.

Investigating officers of the Bhopal police and the special task force found frequent calls between Shehla and Tarun in the last few months, one of which was made on August 16, the day she was killed. Senior intelligence officials are of the opinion that Tarun and Shehla had a close relationship.
