Is CBI probing Sohrabuddin case for links with Haren Pandya murder?

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is believed to be investigating the possibility that the killing of Sohrabuddin Shaikh and Tulsiram Prajapati may be linked to the Haren Pandya murder case.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is believed to be investigating the possibility that the killing of Sohrabuddin Shaikh and Tulsiram Prajapati may be linked to the Haren Pandya murder case. Sources said some Hindu inmates who had stayed with the two gangsters in Sabarmati jail have allegedly been contacted by the probe agency in this connection.

According to sources, some Hindu inmates had stayed with both Sohrabuddin and Tulsi in the Sabarmati jail from 2001 to 2002.

Sources told DNA that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had allegedly been told about the willingness of the Hindu inmates to share the information they had about the two gangsters. Sohrabuddin and Tulsi had both allegedly shared a lot of information about many of their operations with the Hindu inmates.

Both Tulsi and Sohrabuddin were released from Sabarmati jail in the year 2002 and, in March 2003, Haren Pandya was killed. "They allegedly shared some information about the incident with their jail inmates. Many prisoners at the time had expressed their willingness to appear before the CBI and reveal what they knew," a source claimed.

"In fact, some of the Hindu inmates who had stayed with the two gangsters have been allegedly approached by the CBI in connection with the different cases the probe agency is investigating," the source said.

CBI yet to decide on challenging HC verdict Sources said the CBI is yet to take a decision on moving the Supreme Court against the high court verdict in Haren Pandya murder case.

Sources said the probe agency is currently seeking documents which could connect the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case to the Haren Pandya murder case. 

Sanjiv Bhatt had sought action against Sohrab, Tulsi Sanjiv Bhatt, who was posted as superintendent of Sabarmati Jail from September 2003 to November 2003, had submitted a report to the state home department in connection with the Haren Pandya murder case.

In his report, Bhatt had mentioned that some action should be taken against Sohrabuddin Shaikh and Tulsiram Prajapati, who according to his report, were responsible for Pandya's murder.
