Teesta Setalwad under probe after Gujarat high court go-ahead

Justice MR Shah of the Gujarat high court, on Monday, gave green signal to the investigation in an episode of filing doctored affidavits on behalf of riot victims of the 2002 post-Godhra communal riots before various courts.

The single judge bench rejected a petition filed by registrar of the City Civil and Session Court challenging an order of the magisterial court entrusting probe against Raiskhan and others to the assistant commissioner of police (ACP) of the B division.

Rais Khan, former worker from the Citizens for Justice and Piece (CJP), had confessed before the various forums and court that, he and CJP’s secretary-Teesta Setalwad had fabricated affidavits and statements of the riot victims and submitted before the lower courts to Supreme Court.

Looking to this confessions, SH Vora, then judge who heard the Nardoa Gam case, had asked the registrar of the City Civil and Session court to file a complaint before magisterial court against Rais Khan and others.
