We had fought the night she left for Goregaon, says boyfriend of the rape victim

Sunny Singh, the boyfriend of the rape victim, said his partner was shattered by the incident, and it took a lot of effort to convince her to register a police complaint against the rapists.

“I have known her for the past two and a half years. She worked as a telephone operator in my office. She stayed with her mother in Andheri, but recently she shifted to a rented accommodation in Khar. On October 2, we argued over something at night, after which I went to sleep. I did not know when she left the house,” Singh said, adding that his girlfriend told him that she had gone to a hookah parlour at Goregaon.

“She said she was approached by a girl, who was accompanied by two persons. They then invited her to their place. As my girlfriend was alone, she joined them. Later, they kidnapped her and confined her for two days in a room at Manori village where they raped her,” Singh said, adding that on October 3, he called her up, but could not get through because her cellphone was switched off.

“Later, her phone was answered by a man who started abusing me. After three days, she escaped from their clutches and told me about the incident,” he said.

Singh went along with her at the Goregaon police station and filed a police complaint. “I had to convince her to lodge a police complaint. We have idea who was the girl that approached my girlfriend at the parlour,” Singh added.
