Two arrested with MIDC unit’s jewellery worth Rs97 lakh

The police have arrested two persons from Rajasthan in this case and have recovered the entire stolen property.

An employee working with a jewellery manufacturing unit at MIDC has been arrested by the crime branch officers for allegedly stealing jewellery worth Rs97 lakh, meant to be delivered to a store.

The police have arrested two persons from Rajasthan in this case and have recovered the entire stolen property.

The arrested duo has been identified as Mahipalsingh Dewara and Jeetendra Singh Dewara, natives of Rajasthan.

According to the police, on April 9, complainant and manager of M/s Variety Hallmark in Andheri (East) had given processed gold jewellery worth Rs97.58 lakh to Dewara, who was working in the said company for two years, to deliver them to two jewellery stores in Borivali (West).

“When the two shop owners told officials of Variety Hallmark that their jewllery has not been delivered, they registered a police complaint against Dewara at the MIDC police station,” said senior police inspector Pradeep Gosavi of Crime Branch Unit 10.

The police said that, investigations revealed that Dewara had committed the said crime along with his accomplice Jeetendra and had fled to their native place.

“A police team arrested the duo in Rajasthan. We have also recovered the entire stolen booty,” said assistant commissioner of police, Rajdoot Rupwate.
