said that the killers have been arrested and the gun used has been recovered, but the police are still on the trail of the person who gave the supari.
Bodies of Vijaykumar Krishnaprasad Gupta alias Pintu, who hailed from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh, and his live-in partner Suman were found a km apart in Juinagar on Monday morning.
Investigating the case with leads from Suman’s cell phone, Pintu’s SIM card and an eye-witness account, the police arrested Munna Kumar Rajballi Dubey, 25, and his accomplice Siraj-ul Barkhat Shaikh, 35, a migrant from West Bengal. Dubey was the shooter, while Shaikh was a part of the conspiracy, said Javed.
“The accused and the deceased knew each other. On the day of the incident, they reached the spot in an autorickshaw after consuming alcohol and got into an argument. The murder was pre-planned, but the motive is not clear. After the arrest of the third accused, the case will be clearer,” Javed added.
According to the eyewitness, Santosh Savji, a ragpicker, there were two women and two men when the incident happened. One couple was killed. “The second woman may or may
not be an accused,” Javed said, adding that police are not ruling out the possibility of the second woman being Pintu’s cousin who gave the supari.
“The accused had a very sophisticated weapon, which is rarely seen. We are investigating from where they got it. Further investigations are on,” Javed said.
