A non-cognisable complaint has been filed at the Santacruz police station against labourers working at the bungalow of Ram Mukherjee, father of actor Rani Mukherjee, by their neighbour for allegedly abusing him while working on a ‘disputed’ compound wall. The complaint was filed by Umang Mehta, a teacher and neighbour of the Mukherjees on Friday.

So tense was the situation at the Vasanta Theosophical Co-operative Housing Society Ltd that two vehicles full of police had to arrive at the spot on Saturday afternoon. Umang Mehta who is also the secretary of the society said there had been instances of “trespassing and illegal wall construction in No B-2”.

Dillip Gaekwad, PSI,  said, “It’s a civil matter. BMC should decide it.” Ram Mukherjee was not available for comment. But his daughter-in-law Jyoti answered his cellphone. “Nobody is at home. I have no clues about the dispute,” she said.
