With the continuing dip in minimum temperature, Puneites are making a beeline to shops to purchase the latest woollens. Prominent shops in both Camp and city areas and roadside vendors on Laxmi Road confirmed a significant rise in the demand for woolies.

Praful Jagtap, owner of Shri Swami Bags in Sadashiv Peth, told DNA on Monday that his shop had recorded a three-fold rise in the number of customers over the last one week. “With Pune becoming colder, our customers have increased from 100 to almost 300 every day,” he said.

Jagtap said his customers were interested in sweatshirts, full-sleeve woolen sweaters and pullovers.

Dhaval Shah, partner of Imperial Hosiery on Mahatma Gandhi Road, said his store had recorded a 45% increase in sale of woolies in the last one month. According to him, most customers were interested in full-sleeve sweaters and thermal wear.

Roadside vendors of woolens on Laxmi Road did brisk business on Monday as Puneites thronged to pick up the latest.
