Third robbery in a month shocks Mumbai's Dombivli residents

A robbery that took place in Dombivli on Tuesday early morning, once again shocked Dombivil-Kalyan as this was a third in the area.

An elderly couple was injured in the incident and valuables worth Rs81,000 were looted from their home in Usarghar.

Ratan Ganpat Madhvi, 60, and his wife Radhabai, 55, were sleeping along with their grand daughter while his son Devidas and his wife were sleeping in the next room.

At around 2 am, three unidentified robbers entered their home and brutally beat the elderly couple with wooden sticks to unconsciousness. Before Devidas could reach his parents, the robbers managed to escape along with jewellery worth Rs81,000.

Ratan and Radhabai were admitted to a private hospital. Radhabai gave the police a description of the robbers and what they were wearing based on which Manpada polic detained some local labourers on suspicion.

Earlier this month some armed robbers had conducted a robbery in Yashodhan building near Dombivli station. Dombivli resident former MLA Harishchandra Patil and his son corporator Harshad Patil were injured in attempts to stop the robbers but after they succeeded to nab three of the culprits.

This was followed by another robbery at Khoni village in dombivli. The armed robbers injured Khoni resident Kishor Patil and his wife Meena and looted jewellery from their home.
