‘Stalker’ molests girl at Sanjay Gandhi National Park in Mumbai

A college girl was molested by a youth at Sanjay Gandhi National Park on Tuesday. The accused, who was allegedly stalking her over the past few days, tried to tear off her clothes. The culprit was caught by an angry mob and handed over to the Kasturba Marg police.

The accused has been identified as Raj Kumar Rikhara, 21, a resident of Chintamani Plaza building at Ashok Nagar area of Dahisar (East). The victim, 23, stays in the same area.

According to police, the victim (name withheld) had gone to the park with her father for a morning walk. While the father went ahead, she decided to sit at one place to practice yoga. When she got up, Rikhara allegedly followed the girl and molested her.

President of the National Park Area Morning Walkers Welfare Association and advocate Suresh Kumar Panickar said, “It was shocking to hear about this incident. We will take this issue forward and write a letter to forest department officials.”
