Speeding car mows down 12-year-old in Mumbai

The Bandra police arrested the car driver, Shaktiprasad Jhena, 36, for causing death due to rash and negligent driving, and have seized his car.

A 12-year-old boy was killed on Tuesday night after being hit by a speeding car near Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The Bandra police arrested the car driver, Shaktiprasad Jhena, 36, for causing death due to rash and negligent driving, and have seized his car.

The deceased, Tamaal Mandal, was crossing the road around 8pm, when Jhena lost control of his car and rammed into the boy, injuring him seriously, the police said. Mandal was rushed to Bhabha Hospital where he was declared dead.

Mandal’s father Jahan Ali, 34, lives at Nityanand Nagar near Bandra Reclamation and is a daily wage worker. Mandal, a Std VI student in West Bengal, was visiting his parents.
