A 30-year-old man was brutally beaten up by two sons of policemen in a local train at Parel on Sunday, after they entered a heated argument when the victim boarded the train. The police have registered a case against the two young men.

The duo has been identified as Rahul Keshav Sawant, 20, whose father is attached to Matunga police station, while the father of Sagar Laxman Sarade, 25, is attached to Wadala truck terminal police station.

According to the police, on Sunday at around 1pm, the victim, Narayan Vira Mane was hit and kicked by the two men standing on the footboard for allegedly pushing them while trying to enter the crowded train. Commuters inside the compartment alerted the railway police about the incident.

The trio was brought to the CST Government Railway Police (GRP) office, from where Mane was taken to St George Hospital for treatment. He received seven stitches on his lip. “Further action will be taken against Sawant and Sarade at Dadar GRP police station,” said an officer from the Churchgate GRP office.
