Singles across the city, far from mourning their unattached status, are gearing up to enjoy Valentine’s Day with friends and family. We speak to a few singles who are all set to take advantage of the great V-day offers in town.

Taking it easy
Keeping in mind the crowds that restaurants and shopping malls will attract this Sunday, many singles have chosen to stay home. Payal Srinivasan, a PR consultant is planning a house party with her close friends. Home-cooked food, beer and a DVD movie are on the agenda. Payal said: “I am not too big on Valentine’s Day celebrations, single or not.”

For others there’s a whole lot more excitement on offer.

Spa treatments
While most spas are offering special packages for couples, this hasn’t stopped singles getting a friend to tag along for a treatment for two. Abydoss Spa in Juhu is offering a wide range of scalp and full body treatments at special rates. At Andheri’s True Spa, you can enjoy a Hydrating Goat’s Milk or Energising Aroma Hydrobath, followed by an indulgent 60-minute body rub. The Nature’s Co at Phoenix Mills is offering a special Valentine’s Day hamper, including a Watermelon Exfoliating Body Wash and a rich White Peach Body Lotion. The limited edition heart shaped black currant lip balm will ensure that someone’s going to be licking your lips all day!

Shopping
Oishee Chatterjee doesn’t need an excuse to shop. And having recently broken up with her boyfriend, she wants to shop with a vengeance this Valentine’s. As she puts it, “I don’t need a man to buy me things when I can buy them myself.” And discounts make the experience even more exciting. Landmark has some tempting offers on perfumes, accessories, books, movies and music, including 50% off on exclusive watches, sunglasses and select leather brands. A special Just-for-Valentine’s-Day at SOBO, Chowpatty, has a vast collection of cute home accessories like paintings, clocks, laptop sleeves and bags, and even pink boxers at affordable prices.

Dining out
Fine dining is also an option for singles. The Novotel Hotel and The Sea Princess at Juhu, The Leela Kempinski at Sahar and The Taj Mahal Palace & Tower are among those offering a special buffet dinner on Sunday. Production assistant Harshad said he goes out for dinner every Valentine’s Day, preferably with a date but if they are hard to come by, then with his gang of friends. “Even though buffets at good hotels are expensive, if you go as a group, it is well worth it,” he said.
