Seven apartments broken into in Pashan

Senior police inspector Mahadev Chavan of Chatuhshrungi police station said that the suspects managed to enter the societies despite the presence of watchmen.

Unidentified men broke into seven apartments in Pashan area and fled with booty valued at Rs50,000 on Tuesday afternoon. A complaint was registered with the Chatuhshrungi police by Swapnil Prakash Gaur of Kumar Priyadarshini Society on Sus Road.

The police said that on Tuesday afternoon unidentified suspects broke into seven flats in different societies in Pashan area. The incidents took place at Kumar Priyadarshani Society on Sus Road; Hill Scope Society on Pashan Road; Market World Society on Sus Road; and Sahil Serene Society on Pancard Club Road in Baner.

Senior police inspector Mahadev Chavan of Chatuhshrungi police station told DNA, “All the incidents took place on Tuesday afternoon when the flats were closed. Most of the occupants working with different multinational companies in the city had gone on holidays.”

According to Chavan, the suspects managed to enter the societies despite the presence of watchmen.

Chain snatching unabated
Three separate incidents of chain-snatching were reported from different parts of the city on Wednesday. Jayalaxmi Rikabchand Rathod (76) lodged a complaint with the Khadak police stating that an unidentified person on a two-wheeler snatched her gold chain, valued at Rs40,000.

Sushila Malyesh Nadgire (43) of Gultekdi fell prey to chain-snatchers on a two-wheeler. The suspects snatched her gold chain valued at Rs45,000 at Maharshinagar on Wednesday afternoon. Two unidentified men on a two-wheeler snatched a gold chain valued at Rs30,000, belonging to Bharti Suchir Debe (30) of Ashoknagar, Yerawada, on Wednesday evening in front of Ambedkar Bhavan in Yerawada.

3-year-old raped, murdered
The decomposed body of a 3-year-old girl, identified as Dipali Raju Kasabe, a resident of Ramnagar, was recovered from a deserted place in Nigdi on Thursday morning. The police said an unidentified person had lured the child away from her home while she was playing outside her house. Her parents, who are labourers, had lodged a complaint with the Nigdi police.

Vendor, wife arrested
The Dattawadi police arrested a balloon vendor and his wife for forcing a 16-year-old Bangladeshi girl into prostitution. The incident came to light when the police found the girl near Sarasbaug late on Wednesday. The girl has been taken to the state observation home in Mundhwa.
