Sena leader escapes bid on life in Pune

Two gunmen opened fire on former Pune corporator and Shiv Sena nominee for the Wadgaon Sheri constituency Ajay Bhosale at the Koregaon Park around 10.30am.

While Bhosale escaped unhurt, his close associate Shakeel Yusuf Sayyad, 34, was hit on his shoulder. Police said that Bhosale was on his way to his constituency from Nana Peth area,  when he was attacked by two men on a motorbike.

One of the assailants pulled out the revolver from a laptop bag and fired one round but missed the target. Bhosale and Sayyad then chased them. One of the assailants fired another round hitting Sayyad.

Bhosale filed a complaint with the police, directly accusing his political opponent and NCP nominee Bapu Pathare and the latter's cousin Santosh Bharne for the attack,  saying Pathare may have tried to kill him for raising a voice against the tanker mafia.
