Santa Cruz station gets more security

Security was beefed up at the Santa Cruz station since Thursday morning following a phone call, threatening to blow it up. The call was received at the Railway Protection Force headquarters in Delhi.

Security was beefed up at the Santa Cruz station since Thursday morning following a phone call, threatening to blow it up. The call was received at the Railway Protection Force headquarters in Delhi.

“The caller said he would blow up the platform no. 3 of the station around 5 pm,” said a police officer.

The railway police personnel, with the help of RPF and city police, thoroughly checked the station premises, but no suspicious articles were found.

Senior inspector Ashok Survegandh of the Bandra railway police station said bags of all commuters at the station were checked and patrolling of armed police personnel was stepped up.

On Wednesday, the police had received a similar call to blow up the Kurla Terminus.
