Pune student wins auto design contest

City-based student Vijayendra Jadhavrao was announced the winner of the Audi-India Future of Change Automobile Design Contest conducted by Audi recently in New Delhi.

Vijayendra, currently pursuing a degree in ‘Transportation and Automobile Design’ from National Institute of Design (NID) from Ahmedabad, was among the 250 participants of this nationwide contest. Vijayendra was chosen as the winner on December 9 for his concept of a car for metro cities in India in 2015.

Currently, in Germany for training in product designing, Vijayendra was unavailable for comment. However, a close relative said that the family was sure of his capability.

“He has been interested in automobile design since his college days. His passion and interest in the subject is what won him the contest. Along with his hard work, his professors at NID also helped him a lot,’’ said the proud relative.

After several rounds of judging, he was among the final 7 participants who presented their concepts in New Delhi. The Audi-India Future of Change Business Strategy Contest finals were held on December 8 at the International Management Institute (IMI), Delhi. The finalists presented their automobile design plans during the CII-NID Design Summit, New Delhi on
December 9.

Vijayendra had his school education in Loyola High School in Pashan. He received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT).
